JACKSON DONKOH AND AYITTEY AKORSOU ENDOWMENT  FUND BURSARIES AND SCHOLARSHIPS

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

 

  • PREAMBLE

In recognition of the distinguished service of the late Rev. Fr. Francis Ato Jackson Donkoh, CSSp., former Rector of the Spiritan University College, Ejisu who had an ardent desire to promote the education of female students at the College, and also in recognition of the selfless service rendered to the College by the late Rev. Fr. Ernest Ayitttey Akorsou CSSp., the Spiritan Provincial Council, in consultation with the Chancellor and Governing Council of the College and the Bishop of Konongo-Mampong Diocese has set up an Endowment Fund to honour the memory of Rev. Frs. Francis Ato Jackson Donkoh and Ernest Ayitttey Akorsou.

 

  • ELIGIBILITY

The eligible applicant shall be a Ghanaian female student who:

  1. Has spent at least a year at Spiritan University College (SUC).
  2. Has at least a Cumulated Weighted Average (CWA) of 55{31042e662462bed90524a0a488c9d8cdd5f021fcaf9fbc228773439f9261124a}.
  3. Is a registered student in one of the following Departments: all Departments in School of Business, Department of Sociology and Social Work, Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences and Department of Education.
  4. Can produce evidence that she cannot pay her fees.

In an exceptional occasion, the Rector on the advice of a Head of Department may recommend a student whose CWA is below 55{31042e662462bed90524a0a488c9d8cdd5f021fcaf9fbc228773439f9261124a} to apply for the award.

 

  • SIZE OF THE AWARDS
  • The size of the award will depend on the peculiar circumstances of each applicant.
  • Maximum amount of scholarship will be full fees of the beneficiary.
  • Awards in respect of full fees may be given to applicants whose background suggests extreme poverty.
  • This will be determined by a completed questionnaire filed by the applicant and information cross checked from data held by SUC and other informants.

 

 

  • WHEN TO APPLY
  • Advertisement will flow from the College specifying the eligibility of applicants by first week in March.
  • Completed forms should reach the college by the middle of March. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview by the 30th of April.
  • List of successful applicants will be sent to the Governing Council through the Rector for consideration.

 

  • HOW TO APPLY

Prospective applicants should pick up application form A from the Office of the Registrar when the advertisement is out. Completed forms should reach the College not later than the date indicated in the advertisement.

 

  • DURATION OF THE AWARD
  • A beneficiary will continue to enjoy the award so far as she maintains a CWA of 60{31042e662462bed90524a0a488c9d8cdd5f021fcaf9fbc228773439f9261124a}.
  • Any beneficiary, who at any point in time feels that their circumstances have improved, may give-up the award voluntarily.
  • Beneficiary should not hold any other award
  • Fees will be paid from that point onwards subject to annual renewal. Hence beneficiary will be made to fill a form (Form B) every year to renew the Award.
  • The Award will run through the program of their study

 

  • RULES GOVERNING THE AWARD
  1. The Award is tenable only at Spiritan University College
  2. The award is subject to annual review
  3. Beneficiaries should maintain CWA of at last 60{31042e662462bed90524a0a488c9d8cdd5f021fcaf9fbc228773439f9261124a} throughout
  4. A beneficiary should be of good behaviour by adhering to all rules and regulations of the College. In particular, beneficiary who engages in examination malpractices will lead to a summarily termination of the Award.
  5. The number of awards available every year shall be determined by the Rector in consultation with the Trustees of the Fund.
